Subsections are enabled on the site, which will allow teachers to organize content in new ways. In many instances, subsections can replace the File Folder resource by acting as a collapsible section containing course documents and other resources. This also allows for more granular completion tracking, so that instructors can set completion settings for each file/resource in the subsection as opposed the entire file folder.
The gradebook in Moodle 4.5 has not changed greatly, but it does feature a few key adjustments to the layout and navigation. Examples of changes you will see in the gradebook include: sticky footers and columns in the Grader Report; 'Search Users' and 'Filter by Name' menus in the Grader Report; additional editing options via the three dots/ellipses icons throughout the Grader Report; pop-up screens when adding manual grade items and categories in the Gradebook Setup page; and an overall more user-friendly look and feel throughout the gradebook.
Moodle 4.5 features more robust activity completion tracking capabilities, formerly found under the Activity Completion heading and now titled Completion Tracking. This feature can be found in any settings page for any activity or resource in your course.
Watch the video below for information on assignment improvements, including the ability to grant additional attempts automatically; a new Submissions tab; and 'assignment due' notifications for students.
Bulks Course Actions
Courses now feature a 'bulk actions' menu, which enables teachers to hide, duplicate, delete, or move multiple items in a courses at once.
Completion 'To Do' Menu
Completion Tracking is now enabled by default in courses. Each item in your course now contains a 'To Do' drop down menu that displays the completion conditions as assigned by the teacher for each activity. For instance, based on the completion conditions you have assigned, a student may see after clicking on the To Do menu that they must view a file, receive a grade, attempt a quiz a specific number of times, post a certain number of discussions or replies to a forum, etc.
Course Formats - from Topics to Custom Sections
The 'Topics' format has been renamed 'Custom Sections.'
Screen Recording
The text editor in Course Connect now includes a Screen Recording option. This feature is accessible via any text box on the site by selecting the Video Recording Menu and then Record Screen, as pictured below.
